9/28/09 Monday Night
Well, another day done. Everything went extremely well. Bike, weather, nutrition. Only problem was a hellacious head wind for the last 4 hours. Only averaged 11 mph with the wind in face but was at 24 mph with a tailwind. Really takes it's toll. Added an easy 2 hours on to the trip.
Also, stayed on US158 for 80 miles (boring and way too many trucks). The good news is the truckers know how to pass a bike vs. the general public.
I made it to Nags Head. I'm at the beach but got here too late and leaving too early to even walk on the sand. Maybe tomorrow at Okrakoke.
Total of 105.36 miles. Wears me out just typing it.
Weather man said not only were the temps suppose to go way down but the wind shifts to the northwest. YEH!!!!
Wish i had taken some pictures but probably wouldn't know how to download them anyway without my Andrew(son) to do it for me.
Time for bed. Need to leave early to catch 2 different ferries tomorrow.
Night all.

  1. Dr. Adam,
Doug, Matthew, Abigail & I wish you the best of luck. We are very proud of you. We know you can do this. Are you by yourself or is someone with you? I guess Dr. Sandy had to stay back and run the fort. How did you get this idea to ride to Florida? I know you will be ready for some R&R when you are done. Look forward to enjoying this journey with you. Until later.
    Sincerely,
    The Duing's
