Sept. 18
Saturday Night
(Another) Hampton Inn

Well, no entry yesterday as I was having too much fun catching up with an old friend from U of FL whom I had not seen in 25 years. Peg and I enjoyed Mexican food and few cold ones but didn't realize that time had slipped away and I didn't get into bed until midnight.

Yesterday's ride was long...100 miles at 14.1 MPH. Hot again with some wind but I think my ride last year in OCT was hotter. There are a lot of Love bugs on the road and I can't figure how they proliferate. OK, I understand the name but I think their total mission in life is to die on the front someone's grill. I even had multiple ones hit me in my grill ( my kids will understand the modern lingo) . Riding in downtown Jacksonville was interesting...very depressed area and then you turn the corner and it looks like something out of Mayberry!!! All and all, went very smoothly.

Today's ride was shorter in distance but took me longer. Maybe because i was dehydrated (the beers) or the late night (the beers) or the heat (the beers). But i ended up taking a nap at mile 68. Ended with 84 miles at 14.1 MPH (are you sensing a theme here?). Unfortunately, my bottom is swollen (T.M.I.) and it's a very difficult place to put ice. I think I didn't have enough back-to-back days in the saddle to 'callous' it up enough. Oh well, one must do what one must do.

Will do better tonight which will result in a better tomorrow. That's all I can ask.

Igor wind should be at my back and I'm back on my maps and off of the big roads.
Sunday = no traffic (YES?!?).

Time for night night.

All is well.
